Active Magic


Compulsion [ TYPE: DARK | STATUS AFFLICTION ] RANGE: 16 FT 

                Typical for vampires, Cel is able to influence a single host to block and control their physical movements through direct eye contact. Weak-willed humans are easiest to subdue, where he can often force to stand still and take a direct blow, or if they are truly powerless, compel them to kill themselves or those around them. This power is limited to a 16 foot radius and can easily be broken if direct visibility is lost (i.e. running behind a wall, if one can manage the willpower to). While the host is afflicted, Cel is defenseless. He must sacrifice the spell to dodge an outside attack, therefore this typically isn't used when confronted by multiple enemies. When the spell is broken it typically leaves the host confused on their whereabouts for a few seconds, so he may use this to bide time for a dire need to flee. 

Sanguine Angustia [ TYPE: DARK - FORBIDDEN | OFFENSIVE ] RANGE: 2 FT - 30 FT || DURATION: VARIES || COOLDOWN: 2 TURNS                 By inflicting a wound upon himself, he is able to semi-solidify a stream of blood into a manipulable rope or whip-like weapon. The strength, reach, dexterity and  lifespan of this weapon depend entirely on the amount of blood sacrificed. A direct result of this spell is an immense hunger to refill himself as soon as possible, and a very weakened state if used too often or too far. Occasionally he plays this spell in a very foul game: knowing vampires are not susceptible to transmittable diseases, he may ingest the blood of an infected human wherever he finds one, then use the spell in his next battle, purposely transferring the disease straight into the opponent. However, because the blood transferred is so infused with magic from the spell, the condition is only temporary and will dissolve with time, whereas symptoms last a maximum of 6 hours and typically aren't difficult to treat throughout.                   
Transfiguration [ TYPE: DARK - FORBIDDEN | OFFENSIVE ] RANGE: MELEE || BUFF: STR +1, VIT +1 || DURATION: 5 MINUTES || COOLDOWN: ONE USE                The religious symbols on the flaps of Cel's hood purposely awaken his most animistic tendencies. This spell is initiated as soon as Cel removes the bandages over his eyes and sees the symbols on his attire. His arms burst into monstrous form and his desire to consume blood overtakes all other desires. This ravenous state of mind is highly reckless, especially on a last resort basis. The better his condition when he transforms, the more control of himself and recognition to the outside world he has. Conversely, the more injured and desperate for survival he is when he transforms, the more maniacal and unreasonable he becomes. He is only able to use this ability once per battle, as after the cast subsides he immediately passes out for several hours. 

Passive Magic

• Metamorphosis - When injured or trapped, the vampire can revert into a Red Spitting Cobra in order to escape. • Proximity Sense - Cel is able to navigate his surroundings with ease despite the bandages over his eyes. This sense weakens considerably with fatigue or rain.

Cel always has something to say. From talking about the weather to gossip to the meaning of life, he could pry himself into any conversation just to state his case, especially when he has the chance to prove somebody wrong. He works completely in self-interest, only allowing those he chooses to get close to him if there is something that he wants. He's not the most loyal companion, and can in fact turn on someone if they no longer serve his purpose. But he does not lie and sees no need for it. As such he tends to blurt the realistic truth in his brutal honesty with no regards to others' feelings. 

However, he is a very curious individual with a capacity and interest to learn. He depends solely on himself for as much as he can handle, and typically avoids confrontations where he knows he won't prevail, but that doesn't stop him from being a troublemaker. He tends to instigate fights between other people, often overhearing conversations between two parties where he then undesirably delivers such honest messages (i.e. "Want to know what "A" said about you? Oh, it isn't pretty....shame you still call them a friend, really.") in exchange for money or blood. He then enjoys watching the drama ensue, typically remarking everyone around him as moronic for indulging in this untruthful behavior. He is very observant despite his concealed sight, not only able to distinguish the change of a person's tone when getting caught in their own lies but also pick up on other unusual behaviors.

CAPUT PRIMUM

    Born and raised in a wealthy but small home on the edge of Stonehaven, Celestine grew as an only child in a pedigree vampire family. It is unknown exactly how the Fausts acquired the fortune that they had. Rumors flew from corruption to theft to lotteries. To this day, even Cel has no clue. He paid no attention to the functions of his upbringing, solely focused on learning otherworldly things. He has always been keen on studying magic, attempting to find ways to learn spells no one in his family have mastered before. But typically this effort has backfired, as he's always gotten caught scanning the highest shelves of the library for the forbidden spellbooks he was denied access to. His grandfather was a modest man, knowing the dangers of forbidden dark magic and always tried to guide his family to do good in their lives. However, the more he seemed to force this on the growing Celestine, by restricting him of the knowledge he so hungrily sought regardless if he'd actually ever use it or not, only made the boy more rebellious and determined to get inside those pages. 

    Celestine was devoted to schoolwork in a little elementary designated for night classes, but he knew the system of education was worth far less about consuming knowledge and more about testing obedience. He played the perfect student well- studied for tests, did all his homework, strove for extra credit, but he was far from any admirable student. From the very beginning, teachers feared his strange, antisocial behavior and odd habitual tendencies. There were times he'd start laughing in the middle of class but refuse to explain what was on his mind, merely stating that they could never understand it. He'd constantly bring up delicate, often taboo subjects in class whether they were relevant to the subject at hand or not. Indeed, he wanted to learn so much more than they were allowing him to know. He was reported frequently for counseling as staff began to speculate the early formations of a sociopath. But whenever he spoke to these doctors, it would be the most enlightening and intriguing conversation for the both of them. 


CAPUT SECUNDUM

    Cel's parents had to reinforce covert behaviors to obscure the family's identity as vampires. This often meant punishment for Celestine's blatant honesty and bizarre behavior both in and out of schooling. By the age of 8, his rebellion had gotten his parents so distraught over their reputation that they removed him from public schooling and finally hired private tutors. Now kept inside, his grandfather tried to keep him satisfied by bringing home new books But he couldn't keep up with Celestine's sporadic interests, and often found the boy cooped in his room buried in a pile of paper. He started retreating and reading every treatise on the shelf. Consecutive times he would reread anatomy and physiology journals, often mumbling the latin jargon aloud. His family knew this would not be able to last forever and his mother, father, and grandfather all tried their best to just get the boy to act more human so that he would be free to do whatever else he wanted. Be social, make friends, have fun! They couldn't understand why this boy simply refused to lie. 

    There were times his mother would take him out to dinner, or to a park, or a walk around town, just to pull him out of the house. But even then, the kid was glued to some book or another. He'd ask her difficult questions that even she didn't have the answers to, and that only emphasized his distaste of opening up to anybody. During one of these nights at a local ball, Celestine slipped out of site and managed to speak to a girl his age. The conversation went well for awhile, until the girl pulled out a necklace she found dear to her, just wanting to show him the pretty golden cross pendant she'd gotten after her catechism. The sight of the crucifix symbol immediately enraged him, tackling her to the floor and attempting to beat the girl with some unrecognizable form of despair. As the scene was discovered, Celestine was pulled off of the poor girl and his mother grabbed him, promptly compelling the witnesses to forget their faces, forget the girl existed, and leave the scene entirely. 

   

CAPUT TERTIUM

    It took many years of record-erasing and mind warping compulsion tricks to cover up the incident. Celestine was now despised by most of the family but yet, his mother was mostly blamed for it. They both became ostracized in the clan as a threat to their identity and survival, causing the two to pack their things and move across town, at the very least. While Celestine's mother attempted to change her name and start anew, Cel discovered the posters and pamphlets advertising a special "magic train" called The Palaegius Express. Devoted to education of all species and magic, all whilst travelling the many different realms across Terra, this opportunity was nothing that Celestine had seen before. And it wasn't something he was about to pass up. 

    After a long and arduous discussion about safety, identity, risks and morals, his mother finally caved and allowed him permission to board the train. But when he prompted her to join him, she refused. That was not the life she desired, and she was perfectly content in this new little home on the other side of town. But she started to smile at the idea of him finally, willingly, meeting others of his kind and not of his kind. People he perhaps might finally get along with. So even though she was ready to pack an entire carriage of things for him to take with him to be ready for his venture, she sufficed when he only carted a couple of wooden boxes of his favorite books. By joining The Palaegius Express, Celestine endeavors to seize the knowledge about life and magic that his beautiful yet reclusive hometown could not grant him alone. And maybe it's not just knowledge he seeks after all.

  • Cel cannot swim. His Proximity Sense is weakened with heavy rain and completely thrown off in bodies of water. By taking off the bandages he is risking the activation of Transfiguration, which would only weigh him down and surely drown him. 

  • He knows many facts straight from encyclopedias but there is much about human tendencies he will never fully understand.  

  • Defines love as a chemical reaction in the brain as a social species such as humans desire for a higher means of survival. Considers vampires entirely separate from this necessity. 

  • Almost never swears.

I often drop RPs that I do not find engaging enough. Even for the ones I enjoy, I may delay over a week to reply. I will do my best to keep up or at least let you know exactly what's going on. Many times, I put art over RP for my use of spare time, which is usually the sole reason for my delay. I LOVE walls, and will often write them, therefore expect them in return (not always, of course! I have plenty of short spurts too, especially in the beginning. But in-depth writing really brings out the best in what I'm trying to do). Being so, I may delay a reply because I want to save it for a time I know I can sit or lie down to type my best for you.
